Students struggle with digital skills

Students struggled most with basic computer skills such as searching for relevant resources on the internet, using a web browser history and displaying hidden toolbars.

This is a big problem. Especially when you consider that by the time these Year 10 students are deciding whether or not to join the workforce, more than half of Aussie workers will need to be able to use, configure or build digital systems. Their digital knowledge gap effectively prevents them from applying for 50% of roles.

Poor digital literacy isn’t only confined to students however. Many teachers feel they don’t have the right level of digital competence to deliver the curriculum.

Australia desperately needs a clear strategy to improve digital literacy among teachers and students!
