AITD Excellence Awards Winner 2024
2024 AITD awards

We are proud to share that Yarno recently won two Australian Institute of Training & Development (AITD) excellence awards: Best Use of Technology for Learning and Best Use of Gamification or Simulation for Learning.

The AITD is a peak not-for-profit organisation in Australia for learning and development professionals. It is committed to advancing excellence in the field and each year it hosts the AITD Excellence Awards to recognise and share quality and innovation across the L&D spectrum.

94% of people got involved and participated. That's pretty unheard of in L&D and the uplift we saw was 20% which is phenomenal.

Tom Bailey, head of Capability, Blackmores

Blackmores is an Australian consumer health and wellness business with operations across APAC. Their goal was to create an engaging way of embedding financial acumen across a cohort of different skill levels, languages, and cultures, leading to increased financial efficiency and skills. The learning objective was to improve the financial literacy of the Blackmores field sales and account management teams.

Blackmores sought a new, innovative approach to drive real impact and increase individuals' understanding and decision-making. Yarno was selected as the learning partner of choice, and together with Blackmores, we designed and delivered digital learning campaigns based on cutting-edge learning principles, including microlearning, team-based learning, gamification, spaced repetition, and human-centred design.

When working with Blackmores we followed our standard content creation process which involved the following:

- A mind-mapping workshop to take a deep dive into their needs to understand what behaviours we might want to shift

- Collaborating on content creation to really engage teams

- Preparing for campaign launch by finalising learner lists and developing a comms plan so your learners know what to expect

- Launching the campaign

- Making reporting and insights available from the campaign dashboard and post-campaign report

For more information on how to roll out a Yarno campaign, check out how Yarno works.

Blackmores and Yarno also collaborated on the content design and development, producing engaging digital learning content in English, Thai, and Simplified Chinese. Being able to roll the content out easily across multiple languages was key for the delivery of the campaign.

From July 2023 to April 2024, five microlearning campaigns were delivered via Yarno to over 200 Blackmores learners across 28 teams in Australia and Southeast Asia. Blackmores achieved 94% participation on their first campaign with Yarno, the highest participation rate ever achieved for a first Yarno campaign. Alongside this was a tremendous 91% completion rate, almost triple the non-compulsory industry eLearning average. For all following campaigns, Blackmores maintained an average of over 90% in participation and completion metrics—another fantastic result.

A big shoutout to Blackmores for their willingness to try an innovative approach to workplace learning and the Yarno team for their hard work and enthusiasm! And thank you to Sprouta for connecting us with Blackmores as part of their excellent L&D network.
